Membership
Membership of NICEC is open to any individual with an interest in career development. Customised arrangements exist for organisational memberships
Members of NICEC are committed to serious thinking and innovation in career development work. By becoming a member, you are making an additional commitment to the furtherance of NICEC's work and enhancing your participation in the sector. Becoming a member is a great way to get to know more about our work and strengthen a future fellowship application. We are delighted when members are able to assist the fellows with the running of NICEC through activities such as journal reviewing and supporting conference organisation.
NICEC's Articles of Association state the objects of the company are to:
(a) function as a learned society promoting thinking and debate in the area of career education and counselling,
(b) develop theory through the convening of, and contributing to, seminars and conferences, and through a sustained output of thoughtful, informed and high quality publications,
(c) inform policy through representation on national bodies, convening policy consultations, publications and other activities, and
(d) enhance practice in the broad fields of career guidance and career development through staff development, consultancy and research
Member benefits
The website offers everyone access to the NICEC Journal (published twice per year in April and September) and archive and publications. In addition, Members benefit from:
Free access to NICEC events and priority booking
Each year we offer:
- Four early evening seminars
- Two full afternoon network meetings per year
- Two research-focused Cutting Edge events run in conjunction with the Career Development Institute
Pre-Covid, events were typically held in London, with two or three each year elsewhere in the UK. Since the pandemic, all events have been online, but following our successful Conference in July 2024, we are looking to see if we can return to in face meetings for 1-2 events per year from 2025. Watch this space!
